An amazing phenomenon takes place in Helsinki when the weather gets cold. Whilst in summer there is none, in winter ice becomes the connecting link between the city and the sea. Similarly, and reflecting the geometries which arise from the rupture of the ice sheet formed on the surface of the sea, the Guggenheim emerges as an architectural icon, a recognizable symbol of Helsinki.
